ALESTORM - No Grave But The Sea [Album Review]

Formed in 2004, known as "Battleheart" before 2007, "Alestorm" is one of a kind. The band describe their style as "True Scottish Pirate Metal", and they are true on every sense. Their every track reminds us of Piratic life, Adventures, and not to mention Drinking. Originated from Perth, Scotland, Alestorm doesn't fail to amuse us. After a hiatus of 3 years, the band is back on the sea of music, with their Jolly Roger flying high.

Their fifth full length album "No Grave But the Sea" delivers fun, groovy riffs along with folky sounds. Starting with their album art, as always they have used their mascot, skeletonized Captain Morgan with his pet rat "Scurvy Steve". "No Grave But The Sea" is a fitting name for any album by Alestorm. Songwriting is outstanding in the album. If you are a fan of Alestorm and their music, this album surely won't disappoint you. Christopher Bowes' harsh vocal along with his catchy tunes on keyboard makes their new album amazing just like the other albums by the band.

Mexico is the track that makes you really look forward to go to Mexico. I mean if there are plenty of wenches, parties that lasts all night and free alcohol, who wouldn't?

Alestorm is one of my personal favorite track from the album. That groovy guitar accompanied by the captivating tune of keyboard and jarring vocal makes you repeat the song over and over and over again. Peter Alcorn has done pretty sick job himself with the drums in the album. After all, Rum, beer, quests and mead are all that a pirate needs.

Bar ünd Imbiss which literally translates to "bar and snack" is the classic Alestorm we know. The track that really stands out is "Fucked With an Anchor". Imagine a song with fun lyrics, appealing tunes and amazing vocals. Yes, you are in for a treat.

Overall, the album is absolutely amazing. Joining the crew of fans of Alestorm and following their works for a long time, "No Grave But The Sea" is a good album. But to be honest, this album hasn't provided anything groundbreaking or masterpiece. However, listening to the album is an absolute fun. After all, Alestorm delivers fun everytime they play and they have not failed in that area in this album too. Therefore, taking all these factors into consideration, Alestorm have done pretty sick job with the album.

Favorite Tracks: No Grave But the Sea, To the End of the World, Alestorm, Bar ünd Imbiss, Fucked with an Anchor.
